It' not easy being a garden lover in northern Scandinavia. Those long, dark and cold months when the garden is sound asleep, I sometimes feel like pulling the blanket over my head and just fall asleep myself. But I have found some easing for my winter depression.
First of all, I have my dogs. Dogs want to go out no matter what the weather is like, and I have discovered that it's lovely to take a walk - even in the middle of winter - as long as you are properly dressed. Daylight is a miracle if you're suffering from winter depression!
Secondly, we've invested in a heated, glassed veranda, as you might know. Well, in Swedish we call them
Our pupils are on winter vacation this week, so I'm off work. I have a new project going; I'm re-decorating an old table, covering the table top with mosaic. Working with my hands is almost like 'feel-good-medicine'.
Enjoy your week!
